A collection of things I learned during my day-to-day activities.

It’s been six years since I last updated this site. While procastrinating on content I did with any techie would do: update the underlying tech instead. I swapped out StrangeCase for Hugo, and then decided to redo the design. Initially this was going pretty smoothly, and CSS flex box and grid certainly make things a lot simpler than they used to be. I was pretty proud how things were going, but then things got complicated. I had a lovely idea for a top header with title, but then I suddenly had nowhere to put navigation. Then layout did not work on mobile. After fixing that I found the layout break on wide screens. Then links did not have the right colour, but fixing that made them hard to spot. Next the whitespace was inconsistent and felt just weirdly off. So, so many small and large things, and for some I still have no good solution.

So, to all designers: I ❤️ what you can do. Without you, everything I produce would not be nearly as pleasant to see or use.

Since I am looking for new work I needed to update my profile in various places. It turns out that promoting yourself is exhausting work - it does not come naturally to me at all.
