The Great dpkg-dev rewrite

The collection of scripts that form dpkg-dev will be rewritten in python. This will gives us a couple of advantages:

cleaner more maintainable code
better abstractions
opportunity to reconsider some old design decisions

dpkg-shlibdeps has already been rewritten, other tools
will follow.
